The Cottage

After years of dreaming about it, suddenly, within 2 days of
beginning the search, I found it! I wanted a little tiny
hideaway to put in the field, just a wee cottage
with a little furniture, a porch, maybe a place to
put sleeping bags for us or for friends...no utilities...
no luxury...just the woods and the field.
A book, a cup of coffee, a poodle...and me.
( Tom can come too! )

The exterior is my favorite style - board & batten -
with a charming little porch and the interior,
with a tiny loft over the porch and even screens
on the windows, is delightful. It is made
of cedar, so it smells wonderful in there!
I have now got the curtains up (except for the loft);
it will get some sort of paneling and some
insulation in the walls, indoor-outdoor carpeting
and a "foundation" of local stones around it.
Also, some simple furniture and wall
mounted oil lamps. We found a tiny wood
stove online, made for Alaskan trappers,
which will go in one corner, with a little
3" stove pipe exiting the wall. It is a
project in miniature and great fun!
Even Bart seems to like it -
I suspect he thinks it's a nice, big dog house!
